Congress committed to reservation in private sector: Shinde

Jalandhar, Oct 28 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde tonight reiterated his party's commitment for providing reservation to people of SCs STs and other dalit communities in the private sector in the country.

Addressing a meeting of Congress SC cell activists here, Mr Shinde said Congress had always supported the dalits' cause.

He said during his tenure as Maharastra Chief Minister he had implemented this reservation in the state and supported the idea of extending the same provisions in entire country.

The congress leader as and when the party got an opportunity, it would extend the reservation in private sector in the country.

The party did not want to do through the confrontation and struggle but this would be done in an amicable manner with consensus, he said.

He praised Congress president Sonia Gandhi for her pro dalit policies and attitude.
