Cong flays BJP's comments on farmer's death

Jaipur, Oct 28 (UNI) The Congress expressed reservations over Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria's alleged comments on the cause of death of farmer Chanduram Saran.

Interacting with the press, Congress spokesperson Param Navdeep Singh said here today Mr Chand Kataria cited heart attack as the cause of death of Chanduram.

She asked what compelled Mr Kataria to cite the cause as heart attack without any basis. She said his comments could influence the findings of any probe, if instituted.

The agitating farmers have alleged that Chanduram was seriously injured during police lathicharge in Gharsana, for which he was admitted to the hospital but the hospital discharged him without providing full treatment.

Chanduram died early Wednesday morning at Manjuwas village at his relative's place.

The state government want to conduct the post-mortem of Chanduram's body to ascertain the causes of death, wothout which it has refused to pay any compensation package to his relatives.

Mrs Singh said state Congress president is currently camping at 6 DD village, with Chanduram's body and at least 4,000 farmers.
