Chargesheet submitted in Damar scam

Bilaspur, Oct 28 (UNI) The Economic Offences Wing of the Chhattisgarh Police submitted a chargesheet against 10 people in connection with 11-year-old 'damar' scam before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Hirendra Singh Tekam's court yesterday.

According to the EOW chargesheet, 1,340 ton 'damar' was sent from Indian Oil Depot in Vishakhapatnam for Bilaspur division in 1993-94 and 1994-95.

However, only 660 ton 'damar' reached the destination. Still, payment was made for 1,340 ton on the basis of fake documents.

One of the 10 chargesheeted persons, the then PWD executive engineer Anish Hasan, has died.

Nine others include Indian Oil Corporation officials Rajweshwar Rao, T Sharif and S Mojes, transporters S R Shastri, R Srivasan, T S Rajeshwaran and Public Workd Department officials Ramesh Singh Thakur and Kumar Dubey.
