BSF,Bankmen open account with facile victory

Jamshedpur, Oct 28 (UNI) Indian Overseas Bank(IOB) and BSF, Jodhpur, registered facile win in men's section while Delhi and Chhatisgarh posted victory in the women's section in the 22nd Federation Cup Basketball Championship at JRD Tata sports complex here today.

In the first encounter IOB scored 94 points against Vijaya Bank (77 points). IOB's international cager Tridip Rai scored 24 points while Mihir secured 23 points. Vijaya Bank cager Srinivas and Bansava scored 22 and 14 points respectively.

In another match BSF jawans faced a tough competition agasinst local giant Tata Steel Training Centre (TSTC) as the former won 78-61. During half-time the score was 40-26.

In the women's category Chhatisgarh outclassed its parent state Madhya Pradesh 102-41 while Delhi also proved its supremacy over Punjab to score 91-51 points win.

Earlier, Jharkhand deputy chief minister Sudhir Mahto inaugurated the championship.

Altogether 16 teams from men's and womens sections are participating in the tourney.

The final would be held on November 2.
