Bhoomi Poojan of 2 FOBs on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road

New Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) Delhi Urban Development and PWD Minister A K Walia today performed 'Bhoomi Poojan' of two Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at Sangam Vihar and Mangal Bazar on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road in South Delhi.

Dr Walia instructed Public Works Department officials to put commissioning of all ten FOBs and five sub-ways in Delhi on fast-track to ensure relief to pedestrians and other commuters on the road.

Local MP Sajjan Kumar and MLAs Ramesh Bidhuri and Vijoy Jolly were present at the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Walia announced that entire Mehrauli-Badarpur Road would be upgraded using latest technology, which would cost Rs seven crore.

He added that this decision had been taken in view of high traffic load on this important road and its present uneven surface on few points.

Dr Walia further said MB Road would be developed as one of the best roads maintained by PWD in the city. MB Road would also serve as approach road for the Tughlakabad shooting range during 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Dr Walia expressed confidence that ten FOBs and five sub-ways would be commissioned by December 2007.

Both the FOBs on MB Road -- 7th and 8th in Delhi -- would cost Rs 2.05 lakh and would be commissioned within four months.

These FOBs would also be disabled-friendly. With the coming up of FOBs on two strategic locations, safety of pedestrians would be ensured.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr Sajjan Kumar appreciated the efforts of Delhi government for accelerating pace of development in unauthorised and regularised unauthorised colonies. Mr Bidhuri and Mr Jolly also expressed their gratitude to Dr Walia for sanctioning modern FOBs on the road.
