AP CM orders comprehensive probe into lands sale

Hyderabad, Oct 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced a high-level probe into the land sale transactions that took place in the state recently.

Addressing the media, while making a mid-term appraisal of his government's performance, the Chief Minister said ''the CCLA (Chief Commissioner for Land Acquisiton) will investigate all land sale transactions held and find whether there are any violations and report it to the government in two months for action''.

The probe would cover the purchases made by Rajaiah, he said denying that the latter belonged to his party.

The government would come out with a comprehensive policy to plug the loopholes, he informed.

Justifying the government for acquiring lands for promotion of industries, he said rates close to the market rate would be given to those whose lands were acquired. The government would not acquire fertile lands for setting up Special Economic Zones (SESz), he added.
