55th B N Mullik Memorial All India police football kicks off
Gangtok, Oct 28 (UNI) Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling today declared open the 55th B N Mullik Memorial All India Police Football championship at the Paljor stadium here.
Thirty two police teams from across the country, including paramilitary forces, are participating in this tournament.
A colourful march past by the 32 participating teams was held at the stadium. Sikkim police DGP C.M.Ravindran welcomed the teams and senior police officials from the country who were present on the occasion. Sikkim had earlier held this tournament in 1995.
Sikkim and Tripura police clashed in the inaugural match that ended in a goalless draw. Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are scheduled to play the second game today at Paljor Stadium. The 32 teams have been slotted in eight groups and the matches will be played in four locations.
Apart from the police football team from different states, paramilitary forces like BSF, CRPF and CISF are also participating in the tournament.
