5 killed in road accident

Palanpur, Gujarat, Oct 28 (UNI) Five people, including a 13-year-old boy, were killed and two others seriously injured when the truck in which they were travelling overturned near Ninava-Patya, about 70 kms from here, early today.

According to the police, the incident took place around 0300 hours. The driver of the truck lost control of the steering which led the truck to overturn killing five occupants. Police said the truck had oil consignment and was bound for Sachor taluka in Rajasthan.

The deceased have been identified as Jetharam Jivaram (25), Asharam Kunamaram Jat (30), Khetaram Ratnaram Rabari (49), Punmaram Bholaram Rabari (45) and Asharam Lalaram Lohar (13) -- all of them hailing from Barmer in Rajasthan. The injured have been rushed to the civil hospital at Ahmedabad. The driver of the ill-fated truck is absconding.
