3 held for extorting money from share broker
Ahmedabad, Oct 28 (UNI) The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) sleuths here today arrested three persons, including a Sabarmati Central Jail guard, for allegedly demanding Rs 20 lakh as protection money from a city share-broker.
The trio allegedly demanded the amount from Mahendra Amrutlal Shah who informed the ATS. Following this, a trap was laid and the three arrested, ATS DGP D G Vanzara said.
Mr Vanzara told reporters here that the trio -- Dharmendra Singh Rajput alias Guddu, who was out on parole from Sabarmati jail, Ramesh Singh Zala and Laxman Tadvi, a constable at Sabarmati Jail, was nabbed while they were trying to extort money from Mr Shah.
He said, the trio was operating at the instance of one Akhilesh Tiwari, who is presently in Sabarmati jail and is member of the infamous Fazloo Raheman Gang.
On October 18, Tiwari had sent a message to Mr Shah asking the latter to pay Rs 20 lakh or face dire consequences, Mr Vanzara said.
