Universal Cables helf year net at Rs 10.76 cr

Kolkata, Oct 27 (UNI) M P Birla group company Universal Cables Ltd, a leading player in the power cable industry, today reported a net profit of Rs 10.76 crore for the half year ended September 30, 2006, as compared to Rs 10.05 crore in the corresponding period previous year.

The gross total income for the half year ended stood at Rs 206.92 crore against Rs 174.88 crore.

Technological upgradation and expansion project for the manufacture of XLPE cables, involving a capital outlay of Rs 63 crore was expected to be operational by December this year, chairman R S Lodha said.
