Threatening calls made to Akal Takht Jathedar

Amritsar, Oct 27 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann and his supporters from Canada and the United States today allegedly made threatening calls to the office of Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti here.

Stating this here today, the Akal Takht Jathedar's personal assistant Prithipal Singh said he himself had received the threatening calls made on telephone from Mr Mann and his associates settled abroad.

''They (Mr Mann and his supporters residing abroad) threatened to assassinate the Akal Takht Jathedar and said they would take revenge of yesterday's clash at Kathunangal in which Mr Mann had been injured,'' Mr Prithipal Singh here said.

He pointed out that Mr Mann himself had called him today and threatened that the Akal Takht Jathedar would have to face consequences of yesterday's clash at Kathunangal between the supporters of Mr Mann and Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal).
