The Centre keen to bring a legislation to protect unorganised sector
Kundapura (Karnataka), Oct 27 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Labour Oscar Fernandes today said that the Centre proposes to bring in a legislation to protect the interests of the employees in the unorganised sector.
''The Centre was keen to bring in a legislation to protect the interests of the employees in the unorganised sector'', he added.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Fernandes said that Left parties, which have raised concern over the employees in unorganised sector, would be consulted before taking a final decision on the proposed legislation.
Replying to a question about increase in the interest rate of Employees Provident Fund (EPF), he said that it was a contentious issue which needed to be dealt with carefully. '' The Board of Trustees would meet soon and discuss the issue in detail.
