Students protest against sealing of pvt educational institutes
New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) Hundreds of students and teachers from private educational institutions in the city facing uncertain future due to the Supreme Court order to seal commercial establishments in residential areas demonstrated against the court's decision today.
The protestors from professional information technology, call centers, Business Process Outsourcing, hospitality, retail, travel and tourism, aviation, nursing, foreign language and multimedia training and learning institutes carried placards and banners condemning the apex court's order, under which the sealing drive would re-start from October 31.
The demonstrators had come together at Jantar mantar under the banner of Institute of Professional Education in Delhi (IPED), whose Coordinator Rajesh Goyal said there were about five lakh students doing various professional job-oriented courses from private institutes located in areas across Delhi, which over a period of time had become professional hubs.
Such institutes in areas like South Extention, Pitam Pura, Vikas Marg, Preet Vihar, Yamuna Vihar and Vikas Puri operated from various floors in residential buildings due to paucity of space and infrastructure, he added.
''Besides students being affected, about 25,000 teachers and thousands of entrepreneurs are likely to become jobless from October 31.'' MORE UNI IP PA ND1448
