Sri Lanka A piles up 325 against West Zone in Duleep trophy

Cuttack, Oct 27 (UNI) A fine spell of bowling by Sidharth Trivedy amply supported by Test discard Zaheer Khan enabled West Zone to restrict Sri Lanka A for 325 on the first day of their four-day Duleep Trophy match against West Zone at the Barbati Stadium here today.

Pace bowler Trivedy returned with figures of 5 for 79 runs while Zaheer, who is struggling to regain his berth in the India team had figures of 3 for 76.

Earlier winning the toss and elected to bat Sri Lanka A started disastrously losing opener Michael Vandert for zero.It was then Mahella Udawatte and Malinga Warnapura started playing confidently on what seemed to be a good batting track to put up a 69 run partnership before the Warnapura fell to spinner Rajesh Pawar for 40 runs.

Sri Lankan batsmen had a look in but none of them were able to make boost a big score. Mahella Udawatte scored fluently before he fell to Zaheer Khan for 68 runs.

Of the other batsman Chamara Silva was the most impressive scoring 61 runs before he too fell leg before to Zaheer Khan. With wickets falling at regular intervals, Kaushal Silva was left unbeaten 47.The Sri Lankan innings folded up at 325 all out.
