Baripada, Oct 27: The tourism zone of Simlipal Tiger Reserve (STR) and the National Park will reopen for visitors from November six next.

It was scheduled to open on November one but the date was rescheuled for November six due to heavy rains this monsoon, which damaged roads inside the park, STR Field Director Debabrata Swain said.

The park usually remain close for the visitors for about four-and-half-a-month due to monsoon. It is now closed since June 16.

Mr Swain said repairs and restoration of the roads were on and it will open to the tourists from Jashipur entry point on November six.

The restoration of the bridge over the Palpala river would take more time which would delay the reopening the Pithabata entry point by about another two weeks.

STR sources said the visitors interested to stay inside the park could reserve their accommodation from the Jashipur National Park office.
