Baripada, Oct 27 (UNI) The tourism zone of Simlipal Tiger Reserve (STR) and the National Park will reopen for visitors from November six.

It was scheduled to open on November one but the date was rescheuled for November six due to heavy rains, which damaged roads inside the park, STR Field Director Debabrata Swain said.

The park usually remains closed for the visitors for about four-and-half-months due to the monsoons. It is now closed since June 16.

Mr Swain said repairs and restoration of the roads were on and it will open to the tourists from Jashipur entry point on November six. The restoration of the bridge over the Palpala river would take more time which would delay the reopening the Pithabata entry point by about another two weeks.

STR sources said visitors interested in staying inside the park could reserve their accommodation from the Jashipur National Park office.
