Seven killed, two injured in collision

Alibag, Oct 27 (UNI) Seven people were killed and two injured, all belonging to one family, in a collision between a truck and a car near Mangaon in Raigad district on the Mumbai-Goa highway today.

The police said all hailing from Goa were coming to Mumbai in a car which dashed into an oncoming truck. The accident took place at 0730 hrs. Both the vehicles were travelling on wrong sides.

The driver of the truck was arrested and a case registered against him at Mangaon police station.

All the victims were residents of Nerul, New Mumbai.

Six of the deceased were identified as Amai Veegis (8), Aear Kurian (6), Ani Kurian (38), Ani Jyruab (38), Meey veegis (39) and Ammi kuttiy veegis (70). One victim is yet to be identified.

The injured, Veegis (13) and Ria Kurian (8), were shifted to Sion hospital, Mumbai, the police said.
