New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi today sent for consideration of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring Committee a resolution urging the Apex court to halt the sealing drive till the implementation of the Master Plan 2021.

The resolution, introduced on the floor of the MCD House yesterday by Leader of the House Jitender Kochar and endorsed by Standing Committee Chairman Jai Kishen Sharma and other Councillors, urged the Supreme Court to postpone the sealing drive from November 1 till the implementation of the Master Plan 2021.

The resolution also expressed apprehensions that going ahead with the sealing drive could lead to serious law and order problems as traders had come out in the streets to protest against sealing of their shops.

It said that since the MCD was in the process of designating as commercial or mixed use roads several streets in Delhi, in addition to the 2183 roads notified as commercial and mixed use streets, the sealing drive be halted till all these streets were notified.

Meanwhile, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Rambabu Sharma today met the members of the Monitoring committee and impressed upon them to find and urgent solution to the traders' difficulties.

Accompanied by Delhi MPs Jagdish tytler and Sajjan Kumar, Mr Sahrma particularly sought relief from sealing for the 44000 traders who had filed affidavits to close down their units by June 30.

Mr Sharma said every effort was being made to get the Central government to implement the Master Plan 2021 before January 31, 2007 which will provide relief to the traders and lakhs of common people of Delhi.
