Punjab and Sindh Bank to take on Services in Super League
Jalandhar, Oct 27 (UNI) Defending Champion Punjab and Sindh Bank will take on Services in the first Super League match in the Dainik Bhaskar Tracer 62nd National Hockey Championship to be played at the Burlton Park Surjit Hockey Stadium here tomorrow.
A total of 12 teams divided into four pools will play in the super league quarter final rounds beginning here from tomorrow.
While, Namdhari XI, Indian Oil Corporation, Air India and holders Punjab and Sindh Bank have made their ways to the super league round from the associate members' category eight other teams have qualified for the quarter final round on the basis of league matches concluded at four centers in Punjab yesterday. Qualifying round for the associate member teams was held recently in New Delhi.
Now, each of the 12 teams,in four pools,will play two matches with the other two teams of their respective group between October 28 and 31. Top team from each pool will qualify for semi finals which will be played on November 2 and the final will be played the next day.
In other matches slated for tomorrow Tamil Nadu will play against Indian Oil Corporation and Mumbai will clash with Air India.
Following are the teams in four pools : Pool A :-1. Hosts Punjab, 2. Indian Airlines, 3. Namdhari XI.
Pool B :-1. Tamil Nadu, 2.Railway, 3. Indian Oil Corporation.
Pool C :-1. Mumbai, 2. Delhi, 3. Air India.
Pool D :-1. Services, 2. Chandigarh, 3. Punjab and Sindh Bank.
