Official sources said here today that the Omesh Saigal committee on restructuring of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) would also submit its report the same day.
Both the committees were appointed six months ago.
The Ashok Pradhan committee has been asked to go into the issues relating to multiplicity of institutions in the area of urban development in Delhi. The committee was appointed in the context of several practical difficulties being experienced in the functioning of several institutions like the Delhi Development Authroity, New Delhi Municipal Council, Municipal Corporation of Delhi and Urban Arts Commission. All these institutions are focussed on urban development.
The main objective of the Pradhan committee is to suggest measures to streamline the various institutions in the area of urban development in Delhi and improve their efficiency and coordination among themselves.
The Saigal Committee's brief is to suggest steps on how to restructure the MCD which is too big an organisation.
