Nikkei rises as techs follow U.S. peers higher

TOKYO, Oct 27 (Reuters) The Nikkei share average rose 0.40 percent on Friday as shares of Tokyo Electron Ltd. and some other tech stocks followed their U.S. peers higher.

The Nikkei was up 42.45 points at 16,854.05 as of 0005 GMT.

The broad TOPIX index was up 0.28 percent at 1,669.24.
