Next phase of Polio Immunisation Programme on Nov 12

New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) The next phase of the Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme in the capital will be held on November 12.

Recently four polio cases were reported in Delhi, forcing the Delhi government to consider a review of the vaccination programme.

Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri said during the campaign, all children under the age of five would be administered Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), irrespective of their previous immunisation status.

The state co-ordination committee meeting on Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization programme decided the date today.

A total of 7,498 booths will be set up in the capital and 22,690 wokers will be deployed for the immunisation programme.

Health workers, volunteers, Government functionaries and NGO members will conduct house-to-house searches, to ensure that not a single child is missed, the Minister said.

Railways and Metro stations will continue to support the pulse polio programme. Polio drops will also be administered in trains, tourist places and hospitals.

A total of 40 teams will also be deployed at Nirankari Sant Samagam, Burari between 9 th Nov to 13 th November. The booths will also be put up at India International trade Fair between November 14 and 17 and at Akshar Dham Temple from November 12 to 17 to administer Polio drops to children.
