Aizawl, Oct 27: NE states move centre for exploring tourism potential of the region to rejuvenate the rural economy.

State tourism minister Z Ropuia here today said, ''NE villagers would be able to sell their finished products at doorsteps without sending outside if tourism was properly developed in the region''.

Informing about the move, he stated that despite huge potentials the region is still behind in trems of economic infrastructure and due to poor marketing facilities the states are yet to project them at national level.

Mr Ropuia also highlighted the transport handicap in the region and mooted an idea of introducing air taxi from one state capital to another for the convenience of tourists and bureaucrats travelling inside the region.

He further said the states have urged North Eastern Council (NEC) to conduct survey on tourism potential in the region and find out what would be needed in a particular time-frame.
