Mumbai to clash with Air India in super league round

Jalandhar, Oct 27 (UNI) Namdhari XI, Indian Oil Corporation, Air India and Punjab and Sindh Bank will play in the super league round of the 62nd National Hockey Championship beginning here from tomorrow.

The four teams were given entry into super league from the associate members' category through draw held here this afternoon.

Eight teams, including hosts Punjab, Mumbai, Indian Airlines, Railways and Chandigarh had already made their way for the Super league round through the league matches which concluded at four venues in the state yesterday.

Now, 12 teams are being pooled in four groups and each team would play two matches with the other two teams of their respective group between October 28 and 31. Top team from each pool will qualify for semi finals which would be played on November two and the final would be played the next day.

Defending champion Punjab and Sindh will take on Services in the first super league match to be played at the Burlton Park Surjit Hockey Stadium here tommorow. In other matches slated for tomorrow Tamil Nadu will play against Indian Oil Corporation and Mumbai will clash with Air India.

Following are the teams in four pools: Pool A-Punjab, Indian Airlines, Namdhari XI.

Pool B-Tamil Nadu, Railway, Indian Oil Corporation.

Pool C-Mumbai, Delhi, Air India.

Pool D-Services, Chandigarh, Punjab and Sindh Bank.
