MCD honours Territorial army personnel

New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi today accorded a civic reception to officers and jawans of the Territorial Army.

At a function held at the MCD headquarters at Town Hall here Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri presented a memento to the Territorial Army personnel on behalf of the MCD.

Later, welcoming the officers and jawans of the Army on the occasion of its 57th anniversary, the Mayor said he and citizens of Delhi were very proud of an organisation formed by citizens from all walks of life, who generally, while continuing to pursue their normal vocations, also volunteer for military service.

The Territorial Army has acquired the status of army of citizens whose work has been highly appreciated in times of war and peace. It has provided a forum where an ordinary citizen can also offer his services in defence of the country.

Due to its extensive military training and dedicated service, the performance of Territorial Army has remained outstanding in times of natural calamities, like floods, earthquakes and others the Mayor added.
