JK Lakshmi Cement Q2 net jumps 174 pc

New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd, flagship company of JK Organisation, today posted 174 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 23 crore in Q2FY07 as against Rs 8.53 crore over the same quarter of the previous year.

The sales turnover stood at Rs 188 crore in the quarter July-September 2006, representing an increase of 23 per cent over the corresponding quarter last year.

During the first six months of the FY07, the net profit of the company zoomed by over 200 per cent at Rs 62.22 crore compared to the first half of the previous year.

The company, in a statement, stated that the profitability would have been still higher had its production and dispatches not affected due to unprecedented heavy rains in the region in the month of August.

The company's operations have since stabilised and it is confident of making up much of these losses. Its ongoing projects are progressing as per schedule as also installation of the captive thermal power plant, which is expected to be completed in April next year.
