India's first adventure park opens in Manipur
Imphal, Oct 27: Manipur Governor Dr SS Sidhu has opened India's first Adventrue and Leadership Park (ALP) at Lamdan, Churachandpur district, about 45 km from here.
The park inside the Mountaineering Institute complex has Jogging track, challenge course, rock/boulder, Zorb-ball, open air ampitheatre, mountain biking, para-sailing, water-sports, swing Burma bridge, spider web, tarzan swing, valley crossing, commando slithering, trampoline catapult etc., are some of the features of the Adventure leadership Park(ALP), which was opened last evening.
Dr Sidhu said the park has thrown another challenge to Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) and Himalayan Environment Trust (HET) to develop it fully and to run it on a ''no profit no loss basis''.
Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports K Govindas said the park would also contribute to the growth adventure tourism.
Everester Capt MS Kohli of HET said the Trust was aiming to establish 500 such parks in the country.
