India, Fiji to enhance Defence, IT ties
New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) India and Fiji will strengthen their cooperation in Defence, IT, tourism and agriculture.
This was agreed during the bilateral visit of Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed to Suva, where he also attended the Post-Forum Dialogue (PFD) Partners' Meeting held today at the conclusion of the Pacific Islands Forum meet.
The two countries also decided to further enhance bilateral cooperation in a number of other fields -- trade and investment, security, healthcare, coconut and rice cultivation, sustainable development, civil aviation and water resources.
An agreement to this effect was signed by Mr Ahamed and Fiji's Foreign Minister Kalipate Tavola yesterday, the foreign office said here today.
During the visit, Mr Ahamed called on Vice President Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi, Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase and held talks with Mr Tavola.
