HC notices on illegal use of land around Golden Temple
Chandigarh, Oct 27 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday issued notices for February 8 next to Punjab Financial Commissioner, Revenue among others on a petition alleging government land worth crores of rupees around the Golden Temple in Amritsar, meant for Galliara Scheme, was under illegal possession.
The Division bench of the acting Chief Justice Surinder Singh Nijjar and Justice Surinder Singh Saron issued the notices on the plea of one Gulshan Sharma and others who sought action against illegal occupants who they claimed were using about 4400 sq yards of land in connivance with the officials.
According to petitioners the land was lying near Bazar Mai Sewan and Hathi Khana, where Maharaja Ranjit Singh used to keep his elephants.
It has also been submitted that representations to the authorities have failed to evoke response or action in the matter.
