GE Shipping net increases 50.88 per cent

New Delhi, Oct 27: Great Eastern Shipping today posted a 50.88 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 235.48 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2006 as compared to Rs 156.07 crore for same period last year.

The company's total income stood at Rs 593.20 crore for the quarter, up by 25.9 per cent, where as the same was Rs 471.14 crore for the corresponding quarter a year ago, a company statement said.

The company's board also recommended an interim dividend of Rs 4 per share to the equity shareholders, which will be paid to them on or after November 22, 2006.
