Free umbrellas for school students

Puducherry, Oct 27 (UNI) The Puducherry administration would begin the distribution of umbrellas on October 30 to students studying from 1st to 8th standards under the free umbrella scheme announced by Chief Minister N Rangasamy.

According to offical sources here though the Chief Minister had announced the scheme a year back, it was delayed due to some reasons.

Now, with the onset of North East monsoon, the scheme would be implemented from Monday next with as many as 1.15 lakh students of the government and government aided schools to be benifited.

The state will incur an expesnditure of Rs 95 lakh.
