Former AIADMK Minister granted anticipatory bail
Madurai, Oct 27 (UNI) The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Former Tamil Nadu Minister and frontline AIADMK Leader Anita Radhakrishnan in a criminal case pertaining to violence during the recent civic elections in Thoothukudi district.
Mr Justice M Jeyapaul, before whom the petition of the AIADMK leader came up for hearing, granted anticipatory bail and directed the Former Minister to appear in person at the Meignnapuram Police Station and sign the register every day.
On a complaint lodged by a Congress worker, Karthik Raja, the police registered a case of attempt to murder and criminal assault during polling for the civic elections on October 18 at a village near Tiruchendur in Thoothukuid district.
The AIADMK Leader was charged with attacking Raja and another Congressman, Subash, along with his supporters.
In his petition, Mr Radhakrishnan had contended that the case was politically motivated and foisted on him.
