New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) Thanks to a fresh wave of Easterlies, cool climes persisted in the capital even though, after a cloudy day yesterday, the Sun made its appearance in the sky today.

Though the maximum temperature today rose to 30.7 degrees Celsius, from 29.0 degrees yesterday, the downslide in minimum temperature continued. The minimum today dropped to 17 degrees Celsius.

Even though there was a slight rise in maximum temperature, the maximum was still one degree below normal.

Weathermen said the fresh Easterly wave sweeping through Delhi could, in the coming weeks, lead to a drop in mercury in Northwest India.

Infact, weathermen have forecast isolated rain and thundershowers over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal in the next 48 hours.

For Delhi, the Met office has forecast misty conditions in the mornings while a mainly clear sky would be witnessed during the day over the next 24 hours.

The pre-Diwali period in Delhi saw a plummetting in mercury following a fresh Western disturbance which led to light rain and thundershowers in Delhi last week.

The rain and thundershowers led to cool climes in the capital, which have persisted ever since.
