Duke of York visits NGO run school
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 27 (UNI) The Duke of York and his family paid a visit to the Integrated Rural Development Centre (IRDC), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) at Gandarvakkottai in neighboring Pudukkottai District and participated in various events.
Prince Andrews, Duchess of York, their daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugeine, father-in-law Evelyn De Rothschild, Lady Rothschild, Ben Stein, Indian Businessman Mittal's wife Nyna Mittal, her daughter Eiesha Bharti Mittal and the personal security guards of the royal family were among a 12-member group who arrived at the International Airport here this afternoon in a special flight from Jabalpur and drove to a city-based star hotel.
They were given a 'Guard of Honour' by the City Police led by Assistant Commissioner of Police T Murugesan at the entrance of the star hotel.
Later, they left to Gandarvakottai by road where they visited the IRDC run Lady Lynn Joyful Home, a school for poor children funded by Eranda Foundation, England.
Prince Andrews inaugurated a Computer Training Centre and Library in the school. He planted a sapling at a Panchayat Middle School in Valavampatti Village near Gandarvakottai and distributed cows to the rural poor.
A large number of villagers assembled to have the glimpse of royal family.
After completing a day's visit, they left to New Delhi by a special flight late this evening.
