Dengue claims 133 lives, 8088 people infected with disease
New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) Dengue has claimed 133 lives in the country, including 45 in Delhi, NCR and neighbouring states, while 8088 people have been infected with the disease in the country, the health ministry said here today.
In Delhi, NCR and other neighbouring states 2372 have been infected with dengue of 1487 cases have been reported from Delhi alone. Of the 885 cases from outside Delhi, 271 cases from Haryana, 480 cases from Uttar Pradesh, 18 cases from Rajasthan and 116 from other states.
Apart from Delhi, the maximum number of dengue cases have been reported from Rajasthan (972), followed by Kerala (849), West Bengal (713), Punjab (657), Uttar Pradesh(541), Maharashtra(582), Gujarat(456), Haryana (349), Tamil Nadu (308), Andhra Pradesh (94) and Karnataka (92).
As far as Chikungunya is concerned, 1674 cases have been confirmed in the country while 32 cases of Chikungunya have been reported from the national capital. The maximum number of confirmed Chikungunya cases have been reported from Maharashtra (679) followed by Karnataka (294), Andhra Pradesh (248), Gujarat (170), Tamil Nadu (116), Madhya Pradesh (62), Kerala (38),Rajasthan (24) and Pondicherry (9).
