Coal production capacity in Jhanjra project to go up
New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for Jhanjra Phase-II Longwall Underground Mine for a coal production capacity of 1.70 million tonnes per year at an additional capital investment of Rs 287.17 crore.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi told mediapersons after the CCEA meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Mamohan Singh, that the decision would enable the company to meet the demand of non-coking coal.
Jhanjra Underground project of Eastern Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, is located in Raniganj coalfield in the Burdwan district of West Bengal.
