Asom Sahitya Sabha president accused of misappropriating funds

Guwahati, Oct 27 (UNI) Asom Sahitya Sabha suspended General Secretary Dr Jagadeesh Chandra Patgiri today charged the body's President Kanak Sen Deka of misappropriation of funds.

The 87- year-old Sabha had suspended Dr Patgiri for misappropriation of funds.

Addressing a news conference here, Dr Patgiri said all the charges made against him were false and there were no anomalies as all the decisions was taken jointly by the general secretary and president.

The Sahitya Sabha, after suspending him, has constituted a committee to investigate the matter and submit a report within two months.

Dr Patgiri said that his suspension was ''unconstitutional'' and declared himself to be the ''lawful ''General Secretary of the Sabha.
