Arunachal submits contingency plan on disaster management to Centre

Itanagar, Oct 27 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh government has submitted a contingency plan, envisaging an expenditure of Rs 5.75 crore, to the Centre to tackle the drought like situation in the state. Agriculture Minister Tsering Gyurme informed the Assembly today that 3,500 winter vegetal kits worth Rs seven lakh were distributed to farmers under state plan during the current financial year and more kits would be given to farmers in the coming months.

The minister was responding to a question raised by Independent MLA Ngurang Pinch during Question Hour.

The agriculture department in 1999-2000 had calculated premium for crop insurance to cover rabi and kharif season which stood at Rs 3.53 crore annually, the minister informed and added that the policy could be introduced if the state government provides Rs 1.76 crore as its share.
