Arrest warrant against INTUC President cancelled

Bilaspur, Oct 27 (UNI) The arrest warrant issued against INTUC President and Rajya Sabha member G Sanjeeva Reddy for his failure to appear before the court was cancelled after he appeared before Chief Judicial Magistrate Hirendra Singh Tekam here yesterday.

A case was filed by some leaders of INTUC-affiliated 'Rashtriya Koyala Khan Mazdoor Sangh' on December 12, 1996, against Mr Reddy alleging financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 20 lakh collected as membership fee and donation for the organisation. Mr Reddy had then obtained bail in the case.

The hearing was resumed on trade union leader Pushpraj Singh's application on July 15. The sessions court had issued the warrant against him on September 18 and directed the Superinedent of Police, Delhi, to produce him on October 30.

Mr Reddy had filed a revision petition against the arrest warrant in Additional Sessions Judge M D Katulkar's court, which admitted the petition and directed the lower court on October 18 to cancel the arrest warrant.

The next hearing will take place on October 30.
