Army celebrates Infantry Day
Imphal, Oct 27 (UNI) All the troops stationed in Manipur, observed the Infantry Day today with dignity and honour.
On this day on 27 October 1947, the Dakota aircraft carrying the Infantry soldiers of Sikh Regiment touched Srinagar airship to stop the Pakistan's tribal force's Advancement Towards Srinagar. The Indian Infantry soldiers, though outnumbered gave a bloody nose to the enemy and thus Kashmir was saved.'' from their clutches.
Major General EJ Kochekkan, GOC 57 Mountain Division, and Major General BK Ghengapa, IGAR (South), have conveyed their greetings to all the infantrymen and their families to mark the day.
