Actor held for holding out threat to producer

Chennai, Oct 27 (UNI) Lesser known actor Babu Ganesh, who had acted in Tamil films like 'Pudhiya Mannargal' and 'Dharma Chakkaram', and had also ventured into production and direction, was today arrested on charges of holding out a threat to the life of a film producer.

The arrest followed a complaint filed by the Producer Pyarelal, who said a group barged into his house and threatened him of dire consequences.

In his complaint, Pyarelal said there was enmity between him and Babu that cropped up at the Producers' Association election and said Babu might have sent the gang to his house.

When questioned, Babu denied the charge. Yesterday, he and four others had intercepted the car in which Pyarelal was travelling and threatened to kill him if he failed to withdraw the complaint.

Acting on the second complaint, police arrested Babu and produced him before a court for remand.
