AASU, AUS urges Centre to revive peace talks with ULFA

New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and Asom Unnatti Sabha (AUS) have jointly urged the Centre to immediately revive the peace process with United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) for bringing permanent peace in the State and in the entire North Eastern Region.

Talking to newspersons AASU advisor Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya said a joint delegation had called on Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil here today and discussed the issue.

Mr Patil said the Centre will look into the entire issue on a positive note with the ultimate object of bringing normalcy to the entire region, Dr Bhattacharya added.

He said they have also submitted a two-page memorandum to the Home Minsiter to enable him to take speedy action in this respect.
