19 nationalised banks affected due to strike in Surat
Surat, Oct 27 (UNI) The national-level strike of bank officers and employees called by United Forum of Bank Unions against outsourcing and privatisation has affected the functioning of around 19 nationalised banks in Surat, sources said.
The strike also affected the clearance of cheques worth Rs 350 crore, sources added.
The banks affected by the strike include State Bank of India, Central Bank, Uco Bank, Bank of Baroda, Punjab Bank, Canara Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra and Saurashtra Bank.
However, the strike has not affected the functioning of new generation banks or any time money (ATM) counters, sources said.
