152 lakh tonnes of paddy arrived in Punjab mandis

Chandigarh, Oct 27 (UNI) Over 152 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in various mandis of Punjab so far as against about 98.69 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

Disclosing this here today, Food and Supplies Minister Lal Singh said out of the total arrival over 23.38 lakh tonnes of paddy was procured by Pungrain, 18.68 lakh tonnes by Markfed, 23.16 lakh tonnes by Punsup, 10.08 lakh tonnes by PSWC, 11.54 lakh tonnes by PAIC, 2.17 lakh tonnes by FCI and 15.24 lakh tonnes by the private millers in the state till yesterday.

Giving more details Mr Singh said district Sangrur was leading in the state in paddy arrival with 16.20 lakh tonnes followed by Ludhiana district with 12.34 lakh tonnes.

He further said Grade 'A' variety of paddy arrived in various mandis of the state was 103.31 Lakh tonnes, while common variety of paddy arrived in mandis was 96,841 tonnes.
