Trishna Sanctuary to be developed into a world class tourist spot
Agartala, Oct 26 (UNI) A three-day Trishna festival has started at Jaichandpur in South Tripura District.
inaugurating the festival yesterday, state Forest Minister Jitendra Chaudhury Minister has urged the people to transform Trishna Sanctuary into a world class tourist spot to attract more foreigners and domestic tourists.
He said the people should help the forest department to protect the sanctuary and its inhabitants.
Situated in South Tripura District, the sanctuary is 18 kms away from the sub-divisional town of Belonia and connected by a state highway. It can be approached either from Belonia in the south or from Sonamura in the northern side.
The sanctuary has an area of 197.7 sq. kms. In this sanctuary there are patches of virgin forests which are rich in rare vegetation.
Indian Gaur (Bison) is one of the main attractions of this sanctuary. There are varieties of birds, Deer, Hooklock Gibbon, Golden Langur, Capped Langur, Pheasants and many other animals and reptiles.
