Traders to 'black out' markets against power levy
Kozhikode, Oct 26 (UNI) In a novel protest, traders in the city today decided to black-out market premises tomorrow against the proposal of the Kerala Government to impose electricity caution deposit on them in the state.
The merchants, cutting across political affiliations, said in a release they would switch off lights for ten minutes from 1930 hrs to 1940 on popular S M Street, P M Taj Road, Court Road, Grand Bazar, Koyenco Bazar, G H Road, M P Road in protest against the move.
Describing it as unjustifiable, they alleged the Kerala State Electricity Board was attempting to impose extra burden on the traders who were ''reeling under pressure'' due to many other problems.
