Investors roll-on derivative positions; Sensex up

Mumbai, Oct 26: The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (sensex) today made a solid comeback after the reversal it saw last week to close 75.13 points in the green at 12,698.41 as investors rolled-over their positions for Novemeber derivatives.

The second quater results have had their bearings and the cautiousness is still visible. While the investors are in no mood to go beyond the 13k mark before the close of this month.

October derivatives contracts today came to a successful end with strong roll-overs noticed in the market.

The breadth in the broader market was also positive in favour of 1376 advances as against 1084 declines out of total 2,530 scrips that traded the BSE counters today.

Amongst the sectoral indices the Consumer Durables was down by 3.72 per cent, Oil and Gas was down by 1.17 per cent and the FMCG sector was down by 0.64 per cent, whereas, there were few gainers too, Bankex was up by 3.48 per cent and Metals was up by 2.00 per cent.

Major gainers on the BSE-30 index were ICICI Bank up by 4.56 per cent to Rs 753.40, SBI up by 4.04 per cent to Rs 1,065.80, HDFC Bank was up by 2.64 per cent to Rs 995.75, Hindalco was up by 2.59 per cent to Rs 188.50, Wipro was up by 1.56 per cent to Rs 556.15, Infosys was up by 1.46 per cent to Rs 2,072.40, HDFC was up by 1.42 per cent to Rs 1,449.70, Satyam Computers was up by 1.32 per cent to Rs 430.60, Bharti Airtel was up by 1.32 per cent to Rs 504.35, NTPC was up by 0.52 per cent to Rs 126.35 .

Besides the losers were Bajaj Auto down by 2.20 per cent to Rs 2756.85, Ranbaxy was down by 2.01 per cent to Rs 402.35, HLL down by 1.83 per cent to Rs 224.95, Reliance Industries was down by 1.59 per cent to Rs 1, 175.20, Tata Steel was down by 1.48 per cent to Rs 501.35, Hero Honda was down by 1.25 per cent to Rs 739.95, Tata Motors was down by 0.82 per cent to Rs 871.75, Gujarat Ambuja was down by 0.58 per cent to Rs 120.10, Reliance Communications was up by 0.34 per cent to Rs 368.05 and ITC was down by 0.30 per cent to Rs 184.30.
