Railways, IA, Delhi, Chandigarh enter Super League
Amritsar/Jalandhar, Oct 26 (UNI) Delhi and Chandigarh today joined title favourites Railways and Indian Airlines, reaching the Super League stage of the Dainik Bhaskar-Tracer 62nd Senior National Hockey Championship.
While Delhi thrashed Jharkhand 9-1 and Indian Airlines over shadowed Uttar Pradesh 7-1 at Bhaini Sahib in Jalandhar, the day was good for the Chandigarh team who beat Patiala 3-0 and the strong Railways men beat Orissa 2-0 in Amritsar.
The Railways scored both the goals through penalty corners as they had got four short corners in all. They led 1-0 at half time. The Orissa men were blank even though they had got six penalty corners.
Chandigarh beat Patiala 3-0 as they converted two penalty corners in 16th and 49th minute, to be followed by a field goal by Ravipal in the 52nd minute. The two other scorers, who converted the shortcorners, were Sukhbir Singh and Navdeep Singh.
