Punjab, Mumbai reach super league
Amritsar/Jalandhar, Oct 26 (UNI) Hosts Punjab and Mumbai today made their way into the super league round in the Dainik Bhaskar Tracer 62nd National Hockey Championship defeating Karnataka and Chhattisgarh in their respective knock out pre quarter final matches here.
Former Champion Punjab charged by good performance by up and coming Jarnail Singh and Amit Singh(two goals each) in coordination with Kanwalpreet, Ranjodh Singh and Olympian Baljit Dhillon defeated Karnataka 4-2.
In other knock out round match, battery of Jayesh Yadav, Hemant Lethe, Stanley Fernandes, Vikas Pillai and Shakti Thakur spurred Mumbai to a 6-1 victory over Chhattishgarh, which paved way for the winners' advancement into next super league round.
