Punjab Govt bans screening of "Baghi" film

Chandigarh, Oct 26 (UNI) The Punjab Government has imposed a ban on the screening of ''Baghi'' in order to ''maintain communal harmony, peace and tranquility in the state.'' Disclosing this here today, Secretary Home Affairs and Justice said the Government had received reports from various parts of the state that there was resentment and anguish among people belonging to the Dalit community over ''derogatory'' remarks made against the community in the movie.

The Secretary further said some Dalit organisations were learnt to have held meetings in this regard to prepare a strategy for protest and demonstrations against the screening of the movie.
